[RC] Tying Horses - Bruce Weary DC

I forgot to mention that I tie my horses with lead ropes that I get from Country Supply. They are 2/3rds regular rope, and 1/3rd stretchy rope, so they give if a horse steps on it or gets it tangled someway. This greatly reduces any panic response.
Secondly, when my horses are tied to the trailer, since they are each secured individually, if one happens to get loose, he is much less likely to leave his bonded buddy. He will usually just wander around close to the trailer, where food and companionship are. This offers a second line of defense against a stampede. When a portable or electric corral fails, *all* the horses contained therein take off, as nobody wants to be left behind. Something to think about. Dr Q
PS I hadn't thought about the risk to campers in tents. Has anyone ever been injured by runaway horses while in their tent?
