In fact while this ratio has been growing in most regions it has been basically flat in the PS ( actually gone down form the last few years ( 2006 to 2006)). This is in contrast to the MW which which has more LD's than endurance rides in 2006. In regions where LD has always been a integral part of the sport, e.g., SE , the ratio has been flat but it started out high. In all the other regions this ratio is growing significantly.So while a few ride managers may not need the support of the LD riders - I suspect most do. BTW both you and Angie forgot the Tevis.
