What a weekend....I doubt i'll ever be a 100 miler
again as crewing wears me out. After the finish of the 50 i went to see
Jody and congratulate her and that SPECIAL Joni. Jody finished about 16th
on the 50 i think. There was a miscommunication between JT and me on
her. It was Darolyn and CeCi that got pulled at VC1 on the 50. I
went up the hill and CeCi wanted to see where i lived and so i brought them over
which was only about 8 miles or so from Base camp and then she said she wanted a
good meal and we went to Uncle Bucks for rib eyes, shrimp, salad, real
mashed potatoes and they were leaving that night and i've known her since she
was 5 and have Loved her for many years and i got to show her Luray...my home
town., just like i'm begining to Love and Respect Joni. On the 100
there was information coming in and i asked JT if i was being redundant?
On the 50 i thought someone would also send in some information and it looks
like they didn't.
I don't know what caused the crash at the start
but it seems one horse went down and got loose and knocked Josie off her
horse, Jody caught one and there were 3 horses tied to the the trees.
I do not know the reason the start was at 5 am on
the 50 but i do know they must have had a reason. When i took CeCi and her
fiancee Jason back to camp w/ Darolyn a plate from Unckle Bucks the dinner was
starting and very few were eating and a lot of the camp had left. Darolyn
was pulling out that nite to get back to Texas.
The pity about these events is you get no time
to have fun. I wanted to take some on a canoe trip or go to Luray Caverns
but there was 'No Time' to do those things while taking care of the horses
too.
I hope i explained well enough to suit most about
the Hickory Lane VC and now i hear there is going to be a protest.
Sometimes you are damed if you do and damed if you don't. It'll all get sorted
out. I couldn't get into Hickory Lane because i had my dog Lilyput w/ me
and no dogs were allowed so i went to the finish and as soon as the first
middleweight came in i wnet to the top of the mt. top to call (no cell
phone service in the valley ) JT.
What a weekend. Hope everyone enjoyed our
area and had fun and saw the leaves in full glory and i wish you all could have
relaxed more and seen some of the local stuff.
On a positive note the Pulse and Go at Edinburg
went well according to all i taked to. I must admit i was skeptical at
first of something like that but it seems it went along fine.
