[RC] [RC] Mane mites - Now Change of Attitude - - Lani M Olson
First Barb, let me say thanks. Your post was the one that put me on the
track of bird mites, as the farm where my mare had gone for breeding had
peacocks and geese galore, all free-ranging. I will see about the topical
ivermectin. At this point, I'm hoping that mites truly are the cause of the
tail and mane rubbing so it can finally STOP.

" OK- My last post on the subject. At least your Vet has come around
a little bit.... The internet isn't ALL bad.
If your horse DOES have
the mane mite. Oral paste worming may not get the concentration
high enough in the skin to kill them.
Maybe you can talk him
into giving you the liquid ivermectin for your worming program- so that
you'll have some to apply topically to the mane when the oral route doesn't
work..
