Re: [RC] Japan - final story - Barbara McCraryLud and I can corroborate Steph's opinion of Japan, as we traveled there a year ago September on an historical trip (rather than horse-oriented.) The Japanese people were unfailingly polite, helpful and honest. One of our party left their camera and handbag in a Tokyo taxi and feared of ever seeing these items again. The taxi driver handed the items in to a local police station with a lost and found department. Our friends spoke to the hotel manager, who called the police, and subsequently the items were delivered to our hotel by noon the next day.I've read that courtesy has become a Japanese trait due to the small size of the nation compared to the population, and people have to become courteous in such crowded conditions or their society couldn't survive. I did so enjoy the Japanese people. The country is lovely, the cities huge, and I missed vast miles of wilderness as one finds in mountains and deserts here. But I could stand a little more courtesy and honesty from Americans in general. It was very refreshing.
