Re: [RC] Mane mites/allergies/Diatomacious earth - rides2farSorry- that stuff won't kill the mane mite. Nor will conventional oral wormers, as the oral consentration isn't high enough to get into the skin to kill these buggers. I had a couple of old hairy ponies who used to get lice every year. I'd tried every kind of lice powder & dip made for horses with no success. Then I saw a can of head lice spray that our Dixie Youth organization had given us coaches to spray in the kid's helmets. Sprayed that stuff on the ponies and never had another problem. It's called RID "bedding spray" or something like that, and you can get it at the drug store. It's made to spray furniture & such if your kid gets head lice (boy am I glad mine are out of grammar school!)
