[RC] question on electric portable corrals and blanketed horses? - rides2farwhat has your experience been in using the electric corrals with blanketed horses? My most recent? Well, try 4:30 AM Saturday morning at Yellowhammer. Noise of thrashing, then crashing through underbrush. Person I was talking to at the time sprints to hold onto her horses as she expects a stampede through her camp any moment. I'm staring through the dark trying to see if it's coming my way, prepared to get behind a tree to avoid being trampled if so. My horse is on a overhead line so he's pretty secure and I don't have to worry that the horse will run through any corral he's in and entangle him (of course it could be still dragging its own and get him with that). Got lucky this time. It was just one horse, it headed towards my camp but stopped in the dark and joined four other horses on their picketline. Luckily none of them unloaded on him. I managed to get up to him only to find he didn't have on a halter (had that blanket on though!) Had to go back to my trailer, find a spare halter & rope, get some grain, and go back and convince him to let me catch him *again*. I've been sleeping in the back of my 2 horse and can hear pretty well what's going on. I've been to three rides this fall and have caught three loose horses from electric corrals so far. I guess it's my calling. It's so hard for the people in the nice enclosed living quarters to hear them when they leave none of the owners knew they were loose.
