Re: [RC] carrying water to a ride - Diane Trefethen

I have a 60 gal. fabric water "pillow" that I'd like to use at the Grand Canyon 5 day ride, but I've never been able to figure out how to create enough gravity to get the water to flow out of it.

Buy a water barrel hand pump (siphon). They run $10-20. You can pump water uphill (by hand) or create a siphon and let gravity do the work (downhill). Let the outlet hose hang over the side of your truck and fill your buckets as needed. Flow rate is approx 5g/min.

If you can't get one ordered and delivered on time, try either an RV store (usually found in the part of town where there are Trailer Parks) or a camping or outdoor recreation store.

Some names to try: Eddie Bauer, Camping World, REI, Campmor, Cabelas, Backcountry.com
