Please be very skeptical with junk "science" like
the two internet references given panning Splenda.(TM) artifical
sweetener. I just read the first couple of paragraphs of the second one
and found numerous statements that are just plain wrong!
The road to regularity approval is very long, hard,
and precise. It is extremely rare (probably impossible) today for the
glaring errors claimed in these websites to slip through. Note that these
references are NOT from peer reviewed scientific
publications. A statement from somebody claiming to have a
degree must not be taken as automatically being the truth. Remember the
folk who wrote the statements for the manufacturer, that you doubt, had similar
degrees. Those who write these alarmist things also have reasons to lie,
be mistaken, or stretch the truth beyond all recognition. At
the minimum the publicity feeds their giant egos.
