Re: [RC] What do riders eat during a ride - TypeF \(Jackie Floyd\)I must not ride fast enough ... so far, I haven't have any problems except once at Cuyama from heat. Jennifer Niehaus kindly offered me a finger dip in a little film canister of salt she carries with her and that solved my problem. Otherwise, I usually eat a sliced chicken or turkey sandwich for breakfast with a V8 (because I love V8, not because I was being smart LOL) and usually if it's not a Duck ride, I've got some sort of protein bar in the crew bag, some jerky and fruit snacks and another bar in the saddle. That's it. At a Duck ride, I look longingly forward to that lunch break where LaVonne or Annie provide us with turkey, ham, egg salad, tuna salad sandwiches or some days, hot dogs or barbecued beef. After a ride, I find I REALLY want some Gatorade and sometimes two. But since I'm a turtle and just out for a long trail ride, I think I miss the stress part of the whole thing. Either that, or I'm immune to the usual problems! :) Jackie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Karen Standefer" <kstandefer@xxxxxxxx> To: <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, October 02, 2006 6:39 PM Subject: RE: [RC] What do riders eat during a ride It's not just the salts, you also need to balance with potassium, calcium and magnesium. That's why I settled on V8 type vetable juices. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
