[RC] Barefoot rear -2 overlooked benefits - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

Apart from all the usual considerations,earlier timing of the breakover is a
relief to the hocks,tendons,etc.When I put old Chico the Rebel barefoot at the
back,he really moved out more freely,when the advanced timing of the breakover
put his hocks under him a bit more.Additionally if your gaited horse is
primarily a Stepping Pace horse(as almost all are),that stepping pace timing
will be moved slightly toward the better timing of the Running Walk. Unless the
terrain/distance won't allow it,it's pretty much a win-win deal. Chico does a
lot of miles in both rocky and sandy terrain,and his rear hooves are
fantastic,but-we don't do anything like you hundred- miles-on-the-rocks folks.
