Re: [RC] re: 100 mile horses, Truman's idea - Truman Prevatt

As I was getting the trailer hooked up to go to a ride ;-) , I got thinking about this. When I started doing 100's with the mare - I did 50's to keep her tuned. She did her first 100 at 600 miles. She had 1700 and change when I retired her to breed. 600 miles of that came in one day 100's. So of the remaining 1100 and change over half were 100's. Over a third of her miles total were 100's. Isn't that type of thing what people are shootin for?

I think that is probably pretty common with people that do more than one or two 100's. If they have a horse suited for it they probably will enjoy it. Isn't that what people want and isn't that what should be rewarded?

I kind of like this one because I know of several horses who did 5-10 100

While I doubt it will do anything to help 100's - if you are concerned
about 100's and giving award for 100's throw out all the other stuff and
just concentrate on 100's. Start at 3 = bronze, 5 silver, 10 gold and be
done with it. Forget the mileage.
