I sing on trail to my horse all the time since I ride alone.  It scares the horse eating creatures away.  My favorite to sing goes to the tune of On Top of Old Smoky cause you can make up as many verses as you want.  I always start with this verse first:

 

On top of old Mica (which is the hill we ride all the time)

All covered with trees

I lost my poor horsey

When somebody sneezed.

He turned and he bolted

and ran back to home.

He wanted his buddies

and comforts of home.
