Re: [RC] re: varorooommmmm - Joe LongA good way to pass time and keep spirits up on the "droopy" parts of a ride is to sing a song where you make up verses as you go along. If you're in a group, see who can come up with the best verses. A good song for this is an old Weaver's tune. It has a chorus that goes: "Hey la-lee la-lee la-lee, Hey la-lee la-lee lo, Hey la-lee la-lee la-lee, Hey la-lee la-lee lo." The you just add couplets for verses (pretty easy). Such as: "See this handsome chestnut horse, Hey la-lee la-lee lo, He's the best horse on this course! Hey la-lee la-lee lo." Or about people, such as: "Truman came up from gator-land, Hey la-lee la-lee lo, He says these rocks are just big sand, Hey la-lee la-lee lo." About the trail: "We're ridin' down this rocky road, Hey la-lee la-lee lo, It's got more rocks than bumps on a toad, Hey la-lee la-lee lo." Or just fun: "My butt is chafed, my feet are sore, Hey la-lee la-lee lo, But what the hell let's ride some more! Hey la-lee la-lee lo." -- Joe Long jlong@xxxxxxxx http://www.rnbw.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
