Oh but it does have to do with disease. If I take my show horse to a horseshow and she breaks with EIA (or whatever) three weeks after I return home, and all the horses were microchipped, then the horses could all be tracked to their farms and then tested. This is a simplistic expanation, but it is one of the benefits. Barry works for the Feds, for the USDA, and so does my sister, in Veterinary Services, so they have seen various outbreaks where everyone played Hell trying to find the center of the outbreak. And for your personal info, yes we have a generator, have lived without electricity, and lived on a large farm on about 4,000. to 6,000 dollars a year income at one time in our lives. I have an evac route planned, and what to do with my animals.  Also, I really don't think this will be implemented in any timely fashion by the Feds, Jeez it takes a letter four days to go one state sometimes now, and that is also a Fed system. I can see both the pros and the cons to this. No, we don't need any more Big Brother, but on the other hand, some tracking system would possibly have it's uses.  Carry on, I'm done with this topic.
