Re: [RC] Miniature Horse Mix - Laney HumphreyI like to introduce any horses to each other first by letting them get to know each other over a fence. After they have accepted that, I like to put one of the resident herd in with the new horse so they can bond, giving the new horse a buddy in the herd. Depending on the herd dynamics, it might be the head horse, it might be one lower down. Very often the lowest in the herd is the one who will pester the new horse the most because the lowest finally has somebody lower to push around. I never put new horses into a herd anytime near feeding time, mid day is therefore best.My gelding is very suspicious of smaller equines; mares may see minis as babies. Can't help you with that. Hope this helps, Laney E. Syverson wrote: I have some friends who have a group (4) of miniature horses. They have recently purchased two mares (which are currently boarded at my place). I would like to ask RC for advice in introducing the horses to the miniatures. The two mares have not had any experience with miniature horses. I will appreciate your input.--Liz =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
