believe the McClellan is centerfire-rigged. I always wondered if having the
cinch that far back might restrict the horse's ability to expand its
lungs.

Thanks everybody for your helpful info on these
saddles. If I can find one to fit my narrow mules, I think I'll give it a try.
As for riding like a board, that's something I'm used to anyway---just looking
for a board with a better mule fit. Thanks.
