RE: [RC] Tailing question - Jo Anne Rudolph

The way I remember is "riGht" has a "Gee" in the spelling

Thanks. I'll check it out. Once in a while going up a hill not in a race the
trail becomes ambiguous and he could use instructions. I was thinking of
"gee" and "haw" but I don't remember which means left and which means right.
Don't want to mess with tradition.

Article 9.

Normally, you don't need to "steer" on a trail...or at least I haven't found
the need to do that. It's a little hard to use aids when you're hanging on
to his tail up a steep hill. You just want him to walk in a straight line.
Tailing is basically a form of "driving", but you typically only have one
rein. I taught Sunny go left or right by "neck reining" on his butt and
pulling his tail to the side to "sidepass" him in the direction I wanted to
go, but it was of so little value, didn't bother on any of the other horses.

Subject: [RC] Tailing question

Question: my picture of tailing has the horse's tail being grasped in the
right hand and the lead rope in the left hand. Assuming this is correct,
what are the instructions used to tell the horse to go left and right?
