Here are some climates stats for August (I believe this is when the WEG will be held) Ave Temp: 74.7 Ave Max Temp: 84.9 Ave Min Temp: 64.4 Days with Max Temp of 90F or higher: 6 Ave Humidity: 73.5% Rainfall: 3.9 in And here are some climate stats for Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur - which is inland. Terengganu is on the East coast (where the 2008 WEG is scheduled). Stats are about the same in Malaysia for all months, except that rainfall is greater in the monsoon months (Nov - Apr) Min Temp: 73 Max Temp: 90 Humidity: "around 80% all year" Rainfall: from low of 4.9 in/month to high of 11 in/month My honest opinion: Malaysia will be a challenging venue because of the heat and humidity. I also think that Lexington 2010 is going to be challenging because of heat and humidity. Both venues have flat to rolling terrain. Both venues are going to see some problems with heat stress - primarily due to the humidity. I have not done a 160km ride in Malaysia - the rides I did do were shorter, and in the hilly technical terrain of Kuala Lumpur. In November I will be travelling to Terengannu to ride the WEC 2008 course, hopefully the 160km distance. At this point I can give a more 'informed' opinion. I think the biggest obstacle that Malaysia is facing as host to the 2008 WEC is that there has been little opportunity to 'prove' the venue. Malaysia does not have very many Endurance horses, and even fewer 160km horses, so there has not been an adequate field of horses in any 160km event to date. I believe the OC is trying to arrange the transport of foreign horses to Malaysia for the November ride, this would provide a truer test of the feasiblity of a safe and fair WEC in Malaysia.
