I actually loved riding in my Dad's McClellan in
the 70's. He still has it. As I look back on the pictures of him riding it vs.
riding his Stuben Siegfried, his balance was spot on in the McClellan and
absolutely horribly in the Stuben. I never found it uncomfortable and that's
before they invented sheepskin covers. I've even thought of draging it out of
the bottom of his barn and seeing what kind of shape it's in. Probably pretty
bad. I even think Tank is about the same shape as the Anglo-Arab Monte that my
dad used to ride. Of course, I was 16 then and was impervious to pain
.....
Rode
many thousand miles in a McClellan saddle and found it to be the best for the
rider's well being. It does not fit all horses but when it does it is the best
combination for horse and rider.

eeeeeewwwwwwww.... the stonewall is as close as I've ever come to a
McLellan. Can we say hard as a rock?
The cavalrymen didn't call these saddles "ball busters" for
nothing....
I think the trotted and posted a lot out of self preservation.
