And again, they didn't even HAVE the horse when I first became aware of
his situation--given the way I was initially treated, "falling into
their clutches" was what I was frantically trying to PREVENT in the
beginning.
Ugly statements? Yes. But so was the way that my attempt
to do the right thing was thrown back at me. In the end, we did
indeed get it worked out. But the point I was trying to make is
that MOST people, even if WILLING to do the right thing initially,
would have given up long before realizing success, faced with that kind
of reception. And I stand by that point. It was made
pointedly clear to me at the outset that allowing a breeder to take
back a horse was something that they were loathe to do, and I was
indeed hazed, insulted, and had to duck a lot of crap.
