Re: [RC] Update on Tank - TypeF \(Jackie Floyd\)I also suggest that like Barbra said, you might also check into local Ag Commissioners ..... I just got off the phone with the agricultural department and the gentleman I spoke with said there's really nothing I can do. There is no law against planting oleanders in California. Their secret wish at his office was that the Glassy-Winged Sharp Shooter would infest all the oleanders and they would die. But instead they took out the grapes. It seems there aren't that many things susceptible to the GWSS. Wouldn't you know .... However, he had actually lost a foal to oleander poisoning. The mare ate some that blew into the corral from way out in the front yard in a windstorm, got sick, the foal drank the tainted milk and died. He had a toxidity test done on the mare and an autopsy done on the foal and it was confirmed. So there is a gray area. He did give me a good idea ... bird netting on my side of the oleander bushes. It couldn't be seen by my neighbor so shouldn't bother him, but would keep a lid on the leaves better. Maybe I can finally convince my husband we need to move. I've been trying for several years, but his father was born on this property so he's very sentimental about it. And his father and mother still live here at age 89 and 87 so he is very reluctant to leave. I can already tell you that the neighbor will not agree to pulling out his oleanders. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
