RE: [RC] WEG -- the USA team - Karen Standefer(I don't have the experience to even talk on this subject matter, but.............here goes anyway!) Another difference, I would think is also the values and goals we have as part of AERC. Our motto is "to finish is to win". That is fine for AERC amateur competitors, but it won't cut it in Int'l competition. Also, our values have been to conserve the horse so that it lasts year after year in competition. I would doubt that a horse that is brought along and peaked to a speed that can win at today's Int'l races could not compete at that level for more than a year or two at the most. I don't think we'll get too far if we can't/won't change that value system. I've heard from some people privately that indicate that we don't train near hard enough to compete in today's Int'l environment. I really believe that our long term goals for our horses have a lot to do with why we don't train harder. Look at steph's recent Namibian experience. The NERA has @60 senior riders in the standings this year. It has @35 Young Riders in the standings - In the AERC there are @5000+ Seniors and maybe @300+ Juniors; In the USEF IHP program: @300 Seniors; @5+ youngriders/juniors. -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
