[RC] Newbie seeking to share a ride (gas) to Spook Run - J. ReynoldsPuddin' and I have been riding all summer to get ready for the Spook Run in October at Clark State Forest in Henryville. I'm signed up for the LD on Saturday. The lady that I was doing my conditioning rides with doesn't think her horse will be ready for his first LD. If not, I will lose my transportation to the ride. If anyone is going through my neck of the woods I'd happily pay a fair share on that priceless commodity "fuel" to get me there and back. I live in southeastern indiana about an hour and half north east of where the ride will be held. Anyone coming through my way that would like to help out a newbie? If so you can email me privately so as not to clog up the list. Puddin' has been doing pretty well. We are riding a pretty steady 5.5 miles per hour average now. It has been an uphill climb (literally) as we have very little flat riding here. Found
me a little dirt road surrounding a soybean field, gives me a nice little 3/4 mile track for trotting. I've only worked out the canter on this horse about four weeks ago. Rating her speed with a sidepull has been interesting, but she is getting better. Thinking she will be fine if I just start her out at the back of the pack. If I don't get a ride for my horse I may just have to drive down and volunteer instead. Either way I've had a great year with my mare. Went from a horse with no steering to a pretty good trail horse in one season. A horse that would not leave the property without wigging out, to a horse that just boogeys on down the trail (except for the occaisonal spin for a horse eating tree stump *LOL*). Have been missing Ride Camp not showing up in my mailbox. Jacke Osgood, IN "Good friends are like stars.........You don't always see them, but you know they are always there."
