[RC] stupid question about sheets/coolers/blankets - Jennifer AdamHi all -Okay, I know this is a really dumb question, but I have to ask. How do I know whether my horse needs a sheet, cooler, or blanket? I've never bought one before - only did light riding in the winter, if at all, and never let my horse work up a sweat under his winter coat. This winter I'd like to ride my mare regularly, but I'm worried about keeping her from getting a chill after we've been out on the trail. She stays in a pasture with access to a three sided shed, but I don't have a barn. I don't want to have to clip her and I don't want to have to blanket regularly, either. I started looking at my options in various catalogs, and I have to admit I'm confused. I don't think I need a heavy blanket, do I? If I just get a rump rug and a lighter blanket and sheet or something just to keep her warm until the sweat dries, that will be okay, right? But how do I know what combination of moisture-wicking and warmth I need?? I live in NE Missouri - we have extremely variable weather in the fall and winter. Can anyone offer suggestions and let me know the best way to keep her comfortable during fall and winter riding? I appreciate it - TIA, Jen Adam (and Gypsy - Yippee, it's almost too cold for flies!!) _________________________________________________________________ Windows Live Spaces is here!
