Re: [RC] Endurance, CTR - Chris Paus

Gosh, maybe some CTR venues are like that, but many others strive very hard not to be a trail class in the woods.

And judging of the horse should not be subjective. There are specific critieria that are examined by the vet and points values associated with that. Yeah, one vet judge may be more picky than another, for example assessing down to a quarter of a point for things, but the vet would be that way for all horses, not just one.

A CTR is a "horse show in the woods" -- a great training ground to learn things like pacing, trotting out your horse for the vet, being organized and arriving with a well turned out horse and rider, all things that winning CTR riders learn to do, and a lot of endurance riders have forgotten. Just remember that, as in horse showing, much of the judging in CTR is subjective, so ride your own ride and be your own judge. You'll win some and lose some.
