Re: [RC] Crossing the border with horses - Sisu West RanchUS Customs has been weird forever. In 1955 we took our family dog through Canada one day. We had the health certificate etc. Canada gave it a quick look and sent us on our way. Upon reentry to the USA, the customs guy discovered that the required Rabies booster had been done 20 days before the trip. He tried to deny the dog return to this country. My dad was very persistent and eventually got a supervisor who decided that if we signed and had notarized a statement that we would keep the dog confined and under control for 10 days, and let them know if he died of rabies, we could return to USA instead of having to have him boarded in Canada. This is the same border where in Montana, the border crossings are closed at night by a couple of highway cones, and a sign saying come back tomorrow morning.
