RE: [RC] Unification - K VoyerJohn,
I agree. I believe we may be at that point in time when we should evaluate what has been done over the past couple hundred years, regarding the selection, breeding and promotion of our performance horses. Further, we could discuss working together as US breeders, to discuss and establish the proven endurance bloodlines as they are today (to include worldwide), and to focus and further our endurance breeding programs here in this country.
We could set up, or come together as a group that would review in detail, the foundation breeders' information regarding the horses they selected and imported, the horses they chose to breed, and all of the other factors that brought us to where we are today. We could then evaluate what other Endurance "cooperatives" (for lack of a better word) are doing around the world. Outwardly there are groups in Europe and South America that appear to be collaborating, rather than competing, in the breeding shed - and saving the competition for the trail. The goal of all this would be to establish a future objective for our breeding programs and competitions.
This project would take quite a lot of time and dedication, but it seems to be a next logical step. We could then discuss whether or not to implement a Young Horse Championship in the US, or any other ideas that the cooperative might create. "a breeders auction - a celebration of the future of endurance and a very visible and focused venu for your marketing messages."
I like your ideas John.
