I'm such a Carousel fan that I became a dealer a few years ago!  I buy mine
custom-made with a low rise, stirrup feet, and NO GRIPPY STUFF to cause chafing
when my skin gets sweaty.  I also get the padded seat so I can "go commando" and
avoid chafing from panty lines.  I love the Dri-Flex fabric for summertime
riding, it's so light you feel NAKED even wearing black.

have fairly unstrechable waistlines with belt loops and zippers....and
breeches are also often short (end mid calf)....so that you can wear tall
boots....can have deerskin or suede knee patches or full seat....

Tights, on the other hand, are more stretchy all over...stretchy, comfortable
elastic waistbands...(can pull down quickly to pee on trail!)....go to bottom
of ankle, someitmes with foot arch elastic to keep from riding up...and, in
the case of my favorites, Carousel tights, have lightly padded knees and
seat.  Also, often no inner seams....

These are all generalization, of course.
