Re: [SPAM] Re: [RC] Arabian bloodlines - rdcarrieI heartily second Heidi's post! Any time she (or anyone else knowledgeable in bloodlines) posts about the topic, I am overjoyed. I love learning about bloodlines, conformation, and performance. There are good, athletic horses in all "types" of Arabians - CMK, Polish, Russian, etc. Learning who those horses are can help make us better "consumers" when it comes time to buy that next prospect...and help us reward those breeders who are continuing to produce good athletes.
As Heidi said, we each have our own preferences when it comes to topics, and one can always limber up the ol' finger and give the delete key a good workout. :)

John, we ALL have topics that we delete unread. I really don't care to read posts about some brand of riding tights when I found a brand that works just fine for me, but heaven forbid such discussions be "limited" on ridecamp simply because I find them boring and not applicable. Likewise saddles, trucks, etc.
Genes are an integral aspect of how our endurance horses function, and discussions of bloodlines are one of the only ways we have to get a handle on what genes our successful horses (and unsuccessful horses!) happen to carry. This is one of the more important topics of discussion, IMO (certainly more to the heart of the sport than dogs in camp and several others) and ranks right up there with proper nutrition, proper training and conditioning, and proper management of horses at rides.
I would hope that discussions of Arabian bloodlines would actually PROMPT discussion of bloodlines in other breeds that compete in our sport. And for those who would rather argue about LD, compare human painkillers, discuss the merits of various brands of trucks, or report the comfort of their most recent purchase of riding tights, there's always the delete key.
