Most horsey kidsby nature don’t have the attention span,
perseverance, and, well...endurance to do endurance.
I don't agree at all. I took a 5 year old and her pony on a
50 miler. She was riding bareback around the camp about an hour after we
finished.
The juniors I have started ranged in age from 5 to 13 and they not
only took care of their horses but helped me too. Two of them started by
doing an LD ride but all the rest started with 50's so they don't know much
about LD but they all were focused on being "endurance riders" and treated
conditioning as a job to do.....no slacking off with other plans. Riding
came first....................mb
