[RC] Do words matter? - Karen Williams - JonniI do a lot of conditioning at a local park and when people see my strange and colorful tack, they ask what kind of riding I do. I'm now in a quandry as to what to tell them. I usually say "endurance" (which usually makes them back off with looks of horror on their faces.) But now I'm confused. Am I an LD rider? Am I an endurance rider? Does my most recent ride dictate my status as a rider?<<< I tell folks I do distance riding. I don't usually say "endurance". But, then, I do both NATRC and AERC, so that covers both types of rides. If they ask more about the sport, and are interested in information, I then can tell them of the different sports, distances etc. I never told the guy at the feed store a few weeks ago how far our upcoming ride was going to be when he asked about why we use beet pulp, and that we do distance riding. I know if I had said 100 miles, he would have asked how many days will it take us....and I was short on time to explain THAT much about the sport......
