Re: [RC] seeking childs western saddle - Sisu West RanchMy boys will explain at length that they had the meanest father in the world. They have many stories. Some concern horses and riding.I made them ride a year bareback before allowing a saddle. They fell off of the pony many times, but developed a seat better than mine. When the elder was 8 or so he had a wreck and started to use the horn for a security blanket. I made him carry a stick in his hand. Each time he tried to grab the horn, he would drop the stick. He then had to get off, get the stick and get a lecture. In a couple of weeks he no longer needed the stick. By the way, I made sure that the pony and later horses were kid safe so there would be minimum surprises for the kids.
