Better than a horn actually. And I think safer. If a kid comes off an English saddle and gets hung up, the stirrup leather will slide off the bar. with a western saddle, unless you have tapaderos, your kid is SOL. If the child fell off with an English saddle, she needs to do some very basic balance exercises.
