Re: [RC] Great 100 Milers (Whoa Jack & Sandy Olinger) - Amy MajorI had the distinct pleasure of riding Whoa Jack. I want to get into endurance and a mutual friend introduced me to Melissa. At the time (last Feb and March) I was looking for a horse to start conditioning and Melissa was sweet enough to look at some descriptions of horses I had found. She then offered to let me come out and ride with her to see what my riding level was so that she had a better idea what type of horse might work for me.She rode Sage and I rode Whoa Jack. He is one of the sweetest horses I have ever been on. He gave Sage (probably 15 years his junior) a run for his money. And you could tell Melissa was proud of him. What a great honor to ride such a wonderful horse. He was a gentleman the entire time. And what a great confidence builder for someone very new to the sport. It was because of Melissa that I met my other great friends that are helping me. She suggested I volunteer at the Trace Tribute to get an idea about how rides go. I met many people who just included me in their group. That is a great suggestion for anyone who thinks they might like to eventually do LDs or endurance.
