Every horse that comes here spends time in the pasture the creek runs through until they learn to drink from the running water. That way I've got all the bases covered when it comes to water.... troughs, buckets, running water, and spring holes. Makes it nice on rides.... they've seen it all. Julie When Kahlil was young and we were just starting out, he didn't want to cross water, even puddles across the trail. So one day in Bankhead Forest, there had been some rain and there were a lot of puddles. So I worked on his "puddle training" and made him walk through them, even when there was a way around. Then we came to this big one across the trail. You guessed it ... when he finally (after some fussing) stepped into it, it was bottomless. When we came thrashing out the other side, he looks back at me as if to say "See! I tried to tell you it was dangerous!" -- Joe Long jlong@xxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.chiprider.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
