Re: [RC] ridecamp reaction to Truman's comments - Cindy CollinsSeriously :), Erick & Truman, it is not meant as a put down. This over-sensitivity and wanting a title before you've earned it just happens to trip my trigger! I don't mean that you are that way, but many people are. Language does count for something. Saying I'm a marathoner because I've walked a 3 K is wrong. I have mentored more riders than you can imagine and I have paid my dues in this sport since 1979 when I went to my first ever Big Horn 100 meeting and learned about endurance riding. I have ridden in the SE, CT, PSW, SW, MT and W regions. I NEVER would have run around saying I was an endurance rider before I had ridden a 50 miler. Quite honestly, I did not feel like I was an endurance rider until I finished a one day 100 miler because THAT was the goal of the sport I fell in love with. Yes, we are a big umbrella and everyone is welcomed to play. That being said, not everyone is an endurance rider AND not every horse has done a one day 100. It's very offensive to me (and apparently I'm not alone out there) for a horse to be given a 100 mile horse award without having accomplished a one day 100. It's VERY misleading to the public and don't think for a second that some of those horses will have that award on advertising and as a selling/breeding point. As they say in that southern movie..."It ain't fittin', it just ain't fittin'!"
