RE: [RC] Update on bucking horse - Tracey LomaxI didn't read the initial posts on this because I was really busy at the time but I am going to chime in now and say that, if your horse is bucking after being under saddle only three months (is that what you said? Three months??) then this is most definitely a training problem. Having said that, I don't like your vet's advice one bit! It sounds to me as if he's wanting to FORCE your horse to accept a rather static contact. The hands are NOT static, should never be static. All you're going to do is create a horse with no mouth. Usually, when a young horse bucks, it's not out of resistance, but rather because they are either uncomfortable or they're unbalanced. It's only later, when they're consistently ridden through pain, or constantly unbalanced, that they start to learn to buck out of resistance. JMO,use it,don't use it....you know?
