Re: [RC] Oregon 100 //Too Easy? - Beverley H. Kane, MD

Title: Re: [RC]   Oregon 100 //Too Easy?
I dunno about too easy. I put Steph’s msg in my keeper file. This ride is now a candidate for my 1st 100. Much as I love and train on hills, inc steep, rocky ones, the idea of an easy first 100 is right up there with advances in dental anesthesia.

There have been a lot of old timers decrying the extinction of 100s and the fewer entries in the remaining ones; a Yahoo list was started for new100milers. Call me not-as-game-as-Bob-Suhr (who completed Tevis as his first endurance ride ever at age 58), but Sunriver or Oregon 100 draws me to the longer distance. - Beverley

Too bad - hard to believe they couldn't find a course with hills, even a challenging climb or two. How does everyone think this compares or OD or Tevis as far as being representative of endurance? Kinda like having a home run hitting contest for the majors in a Little League park. I don't know ...just seems weak to me. Reminds me of the discussion on the Pyramid "Challenge", which of course makes people think SE Arabians cannot take a hill or two...Did AHA choose this site?
