i have a polar that i bought from Steve Elliott at
Equine Performance. one of the main reasons i like it so well is because
Steve does such a great job of fixing it and sending it right back. he is
fair priced too, IMHO. (it broke cuz i dropped it and it was stepped
on).
but, many people ride without a heart rate
monitor. it is not a tell-all solution, for sure. it is a great idea
to know how to take your horses' pulse by hand.
So, my horse and I completed our first ride (yay!).
Although, I made the mistake of letting her go at her own pace for the
most part (Aside from still having to hold her back to a trot). We
didn't complete the ride, which is fine, but we completed 18 miles.
To correct this problem of getting worn out too quickly, I've recently
realized that the purchase of a heart rate monitor would be in our best
interest.
Okay, so to the point, which one does everyone like the
best (and why)? Are there any others besides Polar, V-Max,
Garmin?
