I couldn't agree more. This is how virtually all rides across the country calculate BC. I think it's fair. Dr Q Indeed, when the formula was first set up, it was one point per pound, rider weight only (tack not included). With that formula the heavyweights completely dominated Best Condition, the light riders had little chance. So the formula was changed to 1/2 point per pound. Many people still feel that the heavyweights have an advantage, but I don't know if statistics bear that out. There have been more changes since, that greatly increased the effect of the vet score and diminished the weight and time scores, which I believe were good changes. Vet score is the dominant factor. -- Joe Long jlong@xxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.chiprider.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
