But you are not "doubling the mass" that the horse is "carrying".  The mass
of the horse actually stays the same and you are only incrementally
increasing the mass of the rider so the horse will only have to work maybe a
very small percentage harder, but not twice as hard. (1000 lb horse 150- lb
rider vs. 1000 lb horse 250 lb rider is a 8% difference in mass?)
