When a junior asks for a letter from the AERC, all the junior points for the year just disappear. The computer only recognizes the AERC number and when they ask to be allowed to ride unsponsored, the computer is changed to a weight division. In the old days, it was done by hand and if the junior rode unsponsored, their points were put in their weight class. If they rode sponsored (as required by some rides) their points were put in the junior division. My motion was totally clear and given to the board months in advance with NO questions asked. It would have been minimal work for the office and for the computer. I am still mystified as to why they voted it down. I should have fought harder, but I was so shocked at the meeting I did not think fast enough. So the long and short of it is once a junior gets a letter, whether or not they ride unsponsored, their points earned so far that year just drop off the radar......totally unfair in my opinion, and not within the rules of the AERC.....mb -----Original Message----- From: jlong@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To: Merryben@xxxxxxx Cc: ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Mon, 31 Jul 2006 12:44 PM Subject: Re: [RC] Fw: [RideManagers_of_AERC] Race of Champions? Before the computer the junior points were entered by hand and if the junior rode unsponsored they were simply entered in adifferentcategory. They have consistently refused to recognize this and refused to make the simple modifications to keep the points tallied correctly. Look on the archives and see if my motion is still there. It was given to the board on two or three separate occasions and passed through all committees and was to be voted on in about 4 months. NO ONE on the board asked a single questionand when it came up for vote, they just voted no. Never did figure out that one............................mbNow that's just weird. Under AERC rules a Junior who rides unsponsored rides as a Senior Rider (and in a weight division), and his points are Senior points, not Junior. Is our computer program really tallying them as Junior points?
