RE: [RC] Physics of Weight.....All Wrong - heidiLucinda, your post really made me laugh. I'm morally certain
that kat didn't have to brush any dust off of any physics texts--she is
an engineer, and I suspect she uses stuff like this on a regular
basis.
But perhaps some folks SHOULD dust off their physics texts, if they
ever even took any physics in the first place--they might realize that
it isn't all as simple as what they "intuitively" perceive. Life
rarely is that simple, come to think of it.... Furthermore, if
you knew anything about physics, you'd realize that a great
many things in life really are "just physics..."
Although being more of a physiologist myself, I'd hedge and say, well,
it's physics and physiology....
And in this case, both physics and physiology tell us that it ain't
just a simple matter of weighing the static load on a scale, even
though that aspect does figure into the equation. However, those
who insist on thinking that do have a convenient excuse--geeze, I'd
sure like to believe that the reason I can't win rides
is because my horse is packing my extra pounds!
