RE: [RC] Weight - heidi

First of all, Bruce, you're back to the oversiimplification of trying to get people to say that weight makes "no" difference.  We all know that it makes "some" difference.  But the difference is not sufficiently great to be worth the hullabaloo--that's all some of us are trying to tell you.

The good packer knows that if he balances his packs, the mule carrying 300 lbs (yes, some do) can keep right up with the string just as readily as the mule carrying 180 lbs.  Is he expending a little bit more energy?  Sure he is.  Does it matter in the course of an aerobic day?  Not particularly.

Heidi

Okay, I'm starting to get some of this physics stuff, now. So, if the
mules pack weight is as balanced as it can be, and the horse is carrying
a rider with balanced equitation, which animals work harder--the ones
with the heavier pack/rider or the lighter pack/rider? Does the
balancing/equitation nullify the weight difference? Dr Q, who only spent
all those years in fourth grade, not because they were holding me back,
but cuz they didn't want me to pass up my Daddy. ( If I had continued my
education, I would have gotten physics and statistics in 5th grade.
Thus, my poor understanding of these concepts. Dang!)
