RE: [RC] Heavy Weight vs The Trail - Melissa AlexanderThere's a reality TV show called Treasure Hunters currently airing. IN one episode, the contestants rowed about 20 miles, and then had to portage their canoe, paddles, and packs overland about three miles. One team -- composed of an average mom, dad, and 25-year-old (whiny) daughter -- was having trouble, so another -- a group of fit firefighters -- helped. The three firefighters and the dad handled everything except the women's packs. The two women carried only their own packs from that point. No struggle from that point, just steady -- fast, from the looks of it -- marching. And yet, these men both weighed more AND carried a greater percentage of weight. They excelled because they were both fitter and carried more muscle than the women. I'm not saying men are superior to women. The fit women on other teams carried their share just fine, thank you. I'm just illustrating that "bigger" isn't necessarily a handicap.
