Bob Less "smoke and mirrors" would be nice. Weight carried makes a difference, of course, although not nearly as much as some heavyweights believe (as proven by the statistical studies of ride results). The point is that weight is only one variable among many in the capabilities of a horse/rider team, and one which we cannot quantify meaningfully -- yet it is the only one (other than rider age for the Junior Division) that we have divisions for. If our divisions were to be meaningful at all, they would have to take into account many more variables such as rider and horse age, horse weight, height, stride length, heart size, etc., etc. and on and on. But we only use weight carried, because of the politics. -- Joe Long jlong@xxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.chiprider.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
