RE: [RC] Weight--Long - Melissa AlexanderAfter all these posts, I can't remember -- sincerely -- what it is you want to change, Bruce. Or keep the same. What exactly is your beef? If someone weighing 220 pounds is riding a horse that weighs 800 pounds, and someone who weighs 135 pounds is riding a horse who weighs 900 pounds, who has the advantage? Why? Weight is one factor. One. Why, Bruce, are you so convinced that it is such an incredibly important factor? Why do you seem to think that it doesn't factor into the whole? What do you want? Do you want heavyweights to get more recognition? Should we get easier courses? Should we get a time handicap? What kind of special treatment/consideration do you think heavy riders deserve? A horse/rider team encompass a conglomeration of factors, some of which handicap them and some of which give them an edge. I can't for the life of me figure out why you think this one is "different" from all the others, nor what you think should be done because of it.
