[RC] husbands and helmets - Jennifer Adam

Personally, I think getting a husband to wear *any* sort of helmet is an accomplishment! My husband won't wear anything on his head when he rides -so I frown at him and make him ride my mom's steady mare. (Yes, I know, things can still go wrong. Believe me, this is an argument we have all the time.) I would suggest letting him wear the bike helmet (after all, some protection is better than none) but I would also make sure to take him to a ride where lots of other men are wearing riding helmets. It could be that seeing the other men in the right helmets will make him voluntarily switch to an equestrian helmet, if your discussion alone won't do the trick.

Incidentally, my kids both have riding helmets and are required to wear them every time we go to the horse pasture. I'm trying to instill a good habit! And those are the helmets they wear when they are riding their bikes!

And if anyone has good suggestions for training stubborn husbands to wear any helmet at all, I would be most interested... ;)

(who has a dented, cracked helmet from getting bucked off in a grassy field and hitting her head on the only rock to be seen in 15 acres).
