“Bike helmets are designed for falls from different trajectories,
and are not adequate for horseback riding. And as you have observed, they
do not cover as much of the head.” -Heidi
What about children’s bike
helmets? I’d like to get my two children (ages 6 and 4) into riding
at a local stable. They would be on small ponies in an arena and their
helmets come down in back to cover the skull. If it turns out they don’t
enjoy riding (not a risk with one of my kids) then I won’t have spent a
major amount of money on riding helmets (not that they aren’t worth
it!) J
